Drawing a Ladder to Success
This is a still from an animated video titled "How Coaching Works" that Sherry Peng showed us in her workshop at CoachUP.
The client has a goal to climb the wall. The client tried to climb the ladder, but the rungs are much too far apart.
The coach (who wears a hat) grabbed a massive pencil and handed it to the client to draw in some extra rungs so that climbing up is possible!
Sherry's coaching is with 15 - 17 year old students, asking them to define their success and work towards it with her as a resource.
The workshop reminded me of how powerful coaching can be to motivate steps towards big goals. The coach's belief makes people willing to work towards things that they didn't believe they could do.
It's like giving them the pencil to draw in their own resources to take steps upward.
✏️ I wonder what rungs I might draw in for myself to meet my goals.
✏️ I wonder what resources you might create for yourself if I handed you the pencil?
