Cross-Cultural Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/teacher conferences are short, infrequent, and intense: it’s important to get key messages across effectively to help students make further progress. When communicating across cultures at these meetings, it can feel as though parents are holding extreme expectations or are aggressively results-driven, while teachers may want to focus on learning, growth, and developmental progress. This can lead to a feeling of misalignment, tension, or conflict.

This workshop alleviates these difficulties by providing teachers with the critical awareness and practical tools needed for increased comfort and confidence, especially in an online setting. This session will focus on equipping teachers to communicate their key messages in a way that is understood by parents, while also validating parents’ values and needs. The ultimate goal is to move beyond the current tension, ensuring that both parents and teachers feel genuinely on the same page and moving forward, unified in pursuing the student's best interests.
