Understanding Yourself and Your Child as Communicators in an International Context
In a multicultural school community, raising self-awareness about your own communication style is key to connecting effectively with anyone — from your child to teachers to other parents. Even when parents and children share the same national culture, differences in upbringing, education, and life experiences can lead to very different ways of expressing and interpreting messages. Understanding both your own style and your child’s provides a strong starting point for more effective communication in any cross-cultural setting.
This interactive workshop helps parents explore their own communication style alongside their child’s, drawing on insights from research and global perspectives. By recognising how each of them tends to express themselves, listen, and interpret messages, parents can develop deeper awareness and flexibility. This self-knowledge becomes a powerful foundation for navigating all kinds of cross-cultural communication with clarity, empathy, and confidence.
